Airline Hack, Part II (This Time BA)

Last month it was Air Canada. This month it’s British Airways. The self-described “World’s Favorite Airline” might not be so high on the favorite list today. British Airlines confirmed that a recent data breach exposed personal details and (yikes) credit-card numbers of up to 380,000 customers. To top it off, the breach lasted for more than two weeks before it was discovered and remedied. So it you booked a BA flight via its website between Aug 21st and Sept 5th, you might have been compromised and should contact your bank and follow its protocol for stolen credit card data. The bright side, if there is one, is that customer passport and known traveler numbers weren’t compromised. Though BA hasn’t released details, it did confirm that “this is a data theft, rather than a breach,” which possibly suggests that someone with access might have stolen it.
