“Every two years, Deloitte and the National Association of State Chief Information Officers assess the landscape of cybersecurity in state government. The recently released sixth iteration, States at risk: the cybersecurity imperative in uncertain times, is built on responses from chief information security officers in 51 states and territories. It provides some fairly granular insights into the challenges security leaders are most concerned about — challenges amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic.
I encourage you to read the entire report, but I’d like to focus on two specific issues: 1) technology modernization and its related component, technology debt (or “tech debt”) and 2) organizational centralization of cybersecurity.”
