Colorado Springs, CO – September 19th, 2022- The National Cybersecurity Center (NCC) and the Colorado Cyber Resource Center (CCRC), a program of the NCC, announced the Inaugural Colorado Cyber Games. This new, unique, and innovative competition is designed to help employers find vetted talent and help job candidates get connected with those employers. The competition will take place from October 1st to October 31st, and sign-ups are available now.

“Our cyber-secure future starts with next generation’s workforce,” said U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper, who as Governor of Colorado helped established the National Cybersecurity Center to promote cybersecurity education and awareness. “Let the games begin!”

The competition will take place over 4 weeks in October with a timed Capture the Flag (CTF) challenge coming out every Friday. For a small fee, candidates can gain access to the Colorado Cyber Range to get the opportunity to complete weekly challenges. A leaderboard on the CCRC website will show the winner of each week’s challenge where candidates will be able to display their resumes and LinkedIn profiles to potential employers. This is a unique opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their skills and get their name out in front of employers. For employers, the competition is a great opportunity to aid in recruitment and find talent that is pre-vetted – there is no cost for employers to look at the leaderboard and find talent to reach out to.

“I’m thrilled for what the NCC is bringing to our communities with the CCRC Cyber Games,” said Mayor John Suthers of Colorado Springs. “This unique and innovative competition will help foster a more cyber-secure future in our great state of Colorado.”

“Other cyber competitions, or “capture the flag” style events require a set time and location, while our competition format allows you to complete weekly challenges from the comfort of your own home” said Jonah Wisch, Program Director at the NCC. “We are excited to bring the inaugural cyber games to help bolster the cybersecurity ecosystem right here in Colorado.”
