The NCC is thrilled to announce the addition of a New Adult Education Class starting in September. This course leads to certification for IT Fundamentals Pro, and if time allows, a second certification course, Security Pro, will also be offered. If a person finishes Security Pro in the allotted time, an opportunity for a possible apprenticeship will be provided by the CyberUp organization.
For the virtual class, we will use the Zoom application. The in-person class will be held at the National Cybersecurity Center. The curriculum is online and consists of lessons, tests, labs, and videos. The course is a combination of instructor lead and self-paced. Fifteen to 20 minutes of class time will be lectures; the rest will be the lessons and the labs. The instructors will be more of a facilitator and guide than a traditional teacher. Still, instructors will be available for questions and guidance during class time and outside of class time if necessary.
The NCC will collect an administrative fee of $75 to help cover licensing and instruction costs. There is no other cost or fees associated with the program.
Students will have to spend at least as much time studying material independently as they spend in-class meetings. This course is mostly self-paced, but there is a schedule to help keep track of your progress, and the NCC will send individual weekly progress reports. Once accepted into the program, you will receive the Zoom link if you are in the virtual class.
