Emily Chown and Amanda Hoelting are recipients of the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award. The award honors 9- 12th grade women for their computing-related achievements and encourages them to pursue their passions. Recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and plans for post-secondary education.
Emily and Amanda are currently interning at the NCC, working on research projects. Both have earned certification in IT Fundamentals Pro and will earn their Security Pro certifications in May. Additionally, they are co-captains on Falcon High School’s CyberPatriot team that placed first in the State competition for the Silver Tier.
