Russian Intelligence Officers Indicted

Russian Hacking Scandal, Season 2 continues as the US Justice Department has announced criminal indictments against 12 Russian intelligence officers tied to the hack of the DNC during the 2016 US presidential election campaign. The indictments against 12 Russian military officers were announced by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein during a DoJ press conference on Friday.

Charges include, among other things, using Bitcoin and servers across the world to launch “large-scale cyber operations” to hack the DNC network and steal Democrats’ emails to influence the 2016 presidential election. It’s important to note that the indictments did not allege that the cyberattacks ultimately affected vote count or changed the outcome of the 2016 election. Still, the drama continues. Stay tuned.
