WASHINGTON, D.C., July 16, 2020 – The National Council of ISACs (NCI) has welcomed the Space Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Space ISAC) to its list of members. The NCI, formed in 2003, is a true cross-sector partnership, providing a forum for sharing cyber and physical threats and mitigation strategies among the various critical infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs) and with partners such as government.
“We look forward to having the Space ISAC join the NCI as we all partner together to ensure the resilience of the critical infrastructure sectors globally,” said Denise Anderson, chair of the NCI. “The more we can share and work with each other, the stronger we will all be.”
The need for a Space ISAC was conceived by the Science & Technology Partnership Forum in 2017 and was officially launched in April 2019 at the 35th Space Symposium. The Space ISAC is the only space-dedicated ISAC and serves to facilitate collaboration across the global space industry to enhance the ability to prepare for and respond to vulnerabilities, incidents, and threats; to disseminate timely and actionable information among member entities; and to be the primary communications channel for the space sector with respect to this information. This work is made possible through collaboration of a broad membership that spans the entire horizon of the space industry, including organizations large and small involved in the space supply chain, space missions, education and research, space business systems, launch, space systems engineering, payload design, space vehicles, cybersecurity, space communications, intelligence, cloud and data processing, and more.

Space ISAC members are leading the global space community to identify and respond to threats and mitigating risks to the space mission and regularly convene to protect the space sector and reduce operational costs by sharing threat intel, analyzing trends, conducting workshops and gaining firsthand knowledge through training. Together, the Space ISAC membership is driving long-term space security today and into the next era by expanding the collective industry knowledge bank.

Sector-based Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs) collaborate and coordinate with each other via the National Council of ISACs (NCI). Formed in 2003, the NCI today is comprised of organizations designated by their sectors as their information sharing and operational arms.
