Speaking of Shark Week

Unless you live under a rock (or you don’t get the Discovery Channel), you know that last week was Shark Week. That’s right, enough Jaws-y stories, videos and music to keep you away from the beach for a year. But in real life, there are bad dudes cruising around the waters of the net all the time, looking for valuable data to devour. And while the chances of being attacked by a shark are 1 in 3.7 million, the chances of being hacked is…um…pretty much 100%, depending on your definition of ‘hacked’.

So, what can you do? For starters, if you’re the CISO at your company, assume the role of lifeguard. If your company doesn’t have a CISO, it’s time to find one (or outsource one). Second, guard against phishing attacks. Cyber Sharks are still using malware hidden in email attachments as their top tactic. Finally, use modern authentication methods to deter the bad guys and keep a keen eye on your environment.

Psst…the guys over at Dark Reading featured an article with this content (and more) by Robert Block, Sr. VP at SecureAuth. It’s good. You can read it here.
